This is the piece of crap stock intake that comes with the camaro....I personally believe it's robbing me of power....So I decided to put in a dual cai on my car...since the slp system doesn't do much but make you relocate parts in the engine.....I made my own....Using spectres custom intakes Here's the new setup I pushed the mafs about an 1.5in. back and used two boots and clamps to hold it in place. And from that I have the y pipe and the vacuum pipe leading to the ducting I had to make hole on the pipe a little bigger to get this huge temp. sensor in there....And it's air tight... I wish i had a better pic....but this is the p5 power adder....i have one on each side inside the fender housing
I've surely noticed some power gain. It responds a lot quicker...but besides the deeper sound of the engine, what I've really noticed is that my rpm's go a lot higher....and the speed of the car climbs faster when in second gear, but as far as fuel goes. I couldn't tell you just yet because I've been near E all week but I'll let you know as soon as I can test it.
well the verdict on the gas milage is in. And Honestly whether you save gas or not all depends on how you drive. If you're a steady driver then you'll gain about 4 mpg maybe more. And if you like speed and power. then it all depends on how far to the floor the pedal is. But to be honest...Either way you save more gas then you normally do...it's just that when you're speeding it just takes a little longer to drink the gas that's all! well I hope I helped someone with my intake mod...
There will be more in the future. some more chrome piping so I can get rid of the top ducting (even though the red looks kool) New vacuum lines all around Valve covers (depends how they look) but like I said that's all in the future. (this years future that is)
Well sadly my plan to use the stock air box and cold air duct didn't work out as planed....the engine still reached 220temp. So I decided to go with only one intake and decided to keep the filter in the right side fender. I'm getting way more torque out of the single filter then the dual and the engine temp doesn't get anywhere near 200deg. I'll post up the pics when I get the chance. Oh and the reason why the single intake didn't performe better then the dual last time is because I had forgot to plug the iat and maf sensors back in. Now that everything is plugged in and running right. The power gain is something ridiculous. I haven't gotten it dynoed yet, but looking at getting it done sometime in the future. If you have any questions about the intake feel free to ask
Well sadly the economy slowed down my plans a lot...I read on the site that you're doing r&d on intakes for the 3rd gen camaros I wanted to ask how its going. I have no problem fabricating an intake for the front of the camaro but I believe that would cost me more then the one you will come out with. Well when you release it be sure to let me know. Because it will become a must have for me and other 3rd gen owners looking for a full functioning cai. Well g2g
